Karina Marinussen

Karina Marinussen is a contemporary artist who enjoys working with oil color but also with many other medias like water colour and crayons.
She started painting and drawing in her teens. Karina went to several art schools - and courses in Denmark, Sweden and Germany where she has also exhibited her art.
Most of her oil paintings are built up by several layers of paint. She uses the palette knife for thicker layers and to get transparency she pours color on the canvas and let it run, sometimes it is random what happens and sometimes she controls the direction of the paint. To give it some depth and exciting texture she scratches in the paint. She always works on many paintings at the same time. When one is drying she continues on the next.

” It is a very exciting and joyfull process to work on a painting. In my works you will always find elements from nature. I can be inspired by the playful evening sky or the waves of the sea. All kinds of beauty and breathtaking experiences inspire me. The composition and especially the combinations of colors are of high importance. To create a balance in the painting I am very aware of using complementary colors and soft and bold contrast. I would call myself a colorist. I want to inspire the viewer to explore the colors and the textures and let their own imagination decide what they see. ”
